Advertising for BAMA

Advertising agency Hyper contacted us to produce organic content for Facebook.

Mission statement

BAMA Storkjøkken wanted to publish informative videos that would increase the understanding that raw materials have a unique quality, and that it is worth it even if it costs a little extra. They wanted the videos to be informative, but with a cheerful and slightly playful style, without being frivolous. BAMA even had a produce expert who flew in to Oslo to be in front of the camera. The themes in the video were shells (carpet shells and scallops) and shellfish (crayfish and lobster).

How to proceed

The recording took place in one day at Storkjøkkenet. BAMA contributed the food to be talked about, which was also used as props in the kitchen. The chef had made up his mind in advance, but we didn’t use a script to make it as natural as possible. The point of the videos is made by the expert. The setup had to inspire confidence with the clean kitchen and delicate lighting. We used two cameras, a main camera that the chef talked to, which had the chef and the kitchen counter in the picture. The other camera was hand-held by our videographer so that it could be part of what was happening a little closer and moving. One goal was to get some “foodporn”.

Strategy

To bring in the playfulness that BAMA and Hyper wanted, we came up with the idea of using icons (like arrows) and “TikTok-style” live subtitles to support the light atmosphere. That way it won’t be so “stiff”. In addition, we varied the cuts and editing rhythm to keep the audience’s attention. Since the videos were to be published organically, we knew they couldn’t be too long. They were given two long versions of up to 60 seconds about shells and shellfish, which were then divided into four 15-second versions. Ideal for social media! We started the videos with a clear hook that left no doubt about what the videos were about, such as “Today we’re going to talk about scallops and carpet shells”. In this way, we hit the target audience from the first second.

This project was great to work on from start to finish. There was great communication between BAMA, Hyper and us, which made the end product so good. We are happy with the result and the collaboration.

Results

The six films were all delivered in 16:9 and 1:1 formats. In total, they received 12 finished films. There was good cooperation between the companies during both the shooting day and the completion of the films. Both BAMA and Hyper were satisfied with the results, and the customer felt that the use of effects was consistently good.
