Active Brands and Johaug® had an idea to create three videos, one for each color in the clothing collection. The videos were to be marketed in SoMe, mainly on Instagram. What was initially three videos suddenly became four, as Johaug wanted to execute an idea we suggested in the same style.

Fremgangsmåte

It was important to Johaug that the videos and models emphasized the message STRONG IS FEMININE. We discussed the style in a couple of digital meetings before the shoot, before it was up to us to plan in more detail. We focused on seamless transitions between each sequence, as this holds the viewer’s attention better and fits well with the tough style. We shot three videos in four hours at a crossfit center, and the fourth video was shot in two hours at a different location on a different day. Despite the short amount of time on the shooting days, the good preparation beforehand made it possible!

Strategi

Since Johaug was marketing on Instagram, we filmed in 9:16 (portrait format), so that they fit well into the story, and were better adapted to the 4:5 format that is preferred for use on Instagram. Each of the videos was to be 30 seconds long, with an additional 6-second short version. We made a few cinematic moves to adapt the videos to social media. We focused on a fast editing rhythm, switched seamlessly from sequence to sequence by hiding the clip, and otherwise had a handheld style to match the rawness. In addition, we were conscious of starting the videos with the face of the brand, Therese Johaug – after all, she’s our biggest skiing star! All this to grab and hold the viewer’s attention, and to hit the target group.

The time crunch presented some challenges, but it’s nothing we don’t take in our stride. Resultat

Johaug is left with four unique videos, with several versions of these. They are adapted to Instagram, both in terms of correct format, appropriate length and carefully thought-out content. The videos were perfect for presenting the collection and as brand-building content. The videos were both advertised and posted organically on Instagram. Just organically alone attracted tens of thousands of views.
